Hello gang...I am a 44 yr old male from SW PA, Pittsburgh area. I prefer to cycle railtrails, and there is plenty of them here in PA. I ride a 6 speed cruiser, which I find not only ample for railtrails, but also quite comfortable with a touch of nostalgic class. I dont see much in this forum in relativity to cruisers and/or railtrails, but I havent explored very far yet. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with those cycling preferences, and of course anyone else who wants to converse. I look forward to hearing from members and participating in this forum. Pix

Pix,
Welcome to BF.

Where I live there is only one railtrail (the Silver Comet trail) and it is usually overrun with cyclist, joggers, rollerbladers, kids, families, pets, etc., so I rarely go there. Plus it is about 30 miles from my house.

I don't think most of the BF members have access to a railtrail or they are faced with the same problem as me. :)

You live in a great area for trails. I'm a 52 year-old male that started riding trails with my wife on a too small cheap hybrid. Got into road riding and am looking to buy a road bike this spring, but I will keep the hybrid for the trails- there are just too many nice trails in PA to not use them. I'm from New Castle and we have the Stavich trail and Moraine State Park within minutes, and we often drive up to Franklin to ride along the Allegheny and Little Sandy.

Greetings.

Any kind of biking is great. Not many rail trails around here - but there is sort of one which goes through the Air Force Academy - SADLY, this is now closed, due to the Sep 11 tragedy.

BUT, there are lots and lots of other trails around here. Great trails here in the flatland of the Denver metro area and wonderful trails in the mountains where you can get some real challenges in elevation.

I LIKE hills, and going up - and especially down - them. I ride a 27 speed Lemond Buenos Aires and an older 21 speed Specialized Hard Rock mtn bike.

Welcome to the group. I am sure you will find other rail trail riders here.

Hello and welcome, Pix and Easy Don.

I think the gang here is quite versatile, and knowledgable in all areas of cycling.

I'm mostly a roadie, but enjoy trail riding occasionally. We have the Ohio and Erie canal towpath here in N E Ohio, with new sections opening regularly.
Since I'm also a history lover, I seem to be drawn there.

Enjoy,

Louis
