How do I determine winter bootie fit if I'm purchasing on-line? Put another way, will a bootie size 10 fit over a size 10 shoe? Or do I look for a bootie size that fits over a size 10 shoe as if the shoe itself were a foot. . .say a size 12? With cleats, mountain shoes are larger than road shoes. Would a mountain shoe take a larger bootie?

Thanks.

I assume booties are designed for road shoes unless mountain biking is mentioned specifically or I physically have the product in hand to examine. I've found I need one size/style for road biking and another that accomodates the spikes and knobs on a mountain bike shoe. For "typical" road and mountain shoes I buy the same size as the shoe and the larger size if I'm in between two sizes. However, the Lake MX255's I use in the winter are a size 8-1/2 with a vibram sole beefy enough to be considered a 9 or 9-1/2 so I'll have to buy another size larger still. Arrgggh! That's three sets of shoe covers!

This is one of those purchases you should just do at your LBS.

I wear a size 10 shoe and the size 13 bootie is really tight on my mtb shoe and kinda loose on my road shoe.

Bring your shoes to your LBS :)

I'll second that. I even had to go to two different LBSs to find ones that fit. FYI: Nothing in a Pearl Izumi fits over size 11 mountain shoe. They're too narrow.

AmFIB® Mountain Shoe Cover •Anatomic paneling for a precise fit •Warm 3mm Neoprene with microfleece lining •Enlarged sole cut-outs for mountain bike shoe treads •3/4-length locking YKK zipper

I just got a pair of these in xxl to fit over a pair of 50 mega sidi mountain bike shoes -- I did some research online and had my LBS special order them.

Definitely bring your shoes to fit the bootie!!

I take a size 7 men's mtn bike shoe (quite small) ... and the Large Neoprene bootie.

Thanks folks. . .I'm glad I asked. Looks like I need to pop by my [not so "L"] LBS when I'm in the area. . .or look for a more cost-effective solution to the cold/wet/slop situation.

If it's not local, it might be more cost-effective to order three sizes, return two.

I know people don't like doing this, but buy from reputable online shop and it's really not a big deal. Return via a shipper that has tracking and requires a signature.

It's cheaper than a long drive.

FWIW I just got some Pearl Izumi Cyclone booties in large and it took 5 minutes to stretch them over my size 43 (~ size 9) Shimano road shoes, I'm taking them back to the LBS to try the XL.
