What do you guys think of my fit? This is not bike related, this is pain related. Everytime I go on this bike my figs are a hurtin' no matter how I adjust the saddle.

What hurts? Your eyes from the blinding white glare of those legs and arms?

all we can see is a post, are we to assume you have a seat on that "bike"?

But I just remembered something. That's the saddle I had to tighten all the time, isn't it?

It situates itself in the chasm known as my butt cavity.

well, that splains all the posts about how bad your butt is hurting

Top tube looks short. Is the bike a bit small for you?

The seat height looks about right. What's the angle it's set at, and what slips? I'm thinking your stem might be a little bit short (out, not up) though.

Remember this is MTB fit. It's a 20.5 frame, that's equal to like a 60-something in road frames.

or 143.5 in dog years

You seat looks ok to me, but I'm thinking maybe you need a longer stem and to raise the handlebars slightly.

I would also think seat angle could be a factor. Or it could just be the seat itself.

Could my large figs play a role in anything?

newtons?

Siu Blue Wind

That saddle won't stay tight on the tilt. I've tightened it many times for him and even the LBS tried. I tell him the nose is pokin' his thingys. But he won't listen.

You mentioned adjusting the saddle, have you tried a different saddle on the bike?

KingTermite

How much seat post is down into the frame? Is it too far up to get a good hold? I can't see it well from the pictures of your fred bike clothes.

Couple inches.

No, I haven't.

Can you borrow one?

(rather than going to the expense.)

I had to replace the saddle on a bike years ago for the same reason.

Longer stem.

Proper fig support? You don't really ride in those shorts? Do you?

Good bike shorts Roadie or MTB are well worth the $$$

Nose the saddle down. If you nose it down so far that your arse hurts or you're sliding off the front of the saddle, ya done too much.

[edit: Yikes, longer stem too, most like.]

I'm thinking Jon just likes that feel of something hard parting the crack of his nether region in an attempt to poke out his brown eye.

Your butt's too soft. Try a gel seat.

x136
11-08-07, 04:28 PM
If your butt is already soft, you don't need a gel seat.

No, I think it's fairly safe to say that he farted through it.

Siu, if you've tightened the sadde on the tilt and it continues to slip, would changing the seatpost to have a different set-back help? Maybe, Jon, you should post a couple of closeup pics of saddle and seat-post/set-back.

It didn't help that he kept banging on it to get it positioned. I kept telling him that I can tighten it, I HAD the tools and he said "Oh I can fix it this way" (as he punches it downward on the nose). Finallly, it got to me so much that I insisted I tighten it. It was loose again after about 15 mins.

Phread, real MTBers don't sit on the seat - throw it away and learn to suspend yourself with your legs. I kid you not.

If you are sitting tight on the seat, you ain't riding right.
