This morning I guess I passed a milestone or kilostone depending on how you look at it. I went out this morning and noticed a little graphic and a "congrats" message on my computer. It also says "Good morning" and "Have a great ride" with little graphics depending on the time of day. :D

Anyway, the computer was telling me I had accumulated 1000 kms in total so far on my new bike. By the time my ride was over, 1014.7kms to be exact (630.5 miles). I bought my bike in the last week in July and with still days to spare in August, I figure thats not too shabby at all. Makes me want to go out and rack up another 1000 before September is over.

Well, I'm done patting myself on the back. Just thought I'd share with everyone.

Congrats on the milestone....I'm hoping to hit somewhere near that after my first month. :-)

BTW...You have a much friendlier computer than me. ;-)

The computer is a CatEye OS computer. My LBS had clearance on them so I picked it up for a pretty decent price, otherwise, I would have picked up something less tricked up.

Its quite handy as it graphs my mileage for the week month and even year(s). I wished it would graph times as well, as it would be handy to see how well I'm progessing, not just in mileage, but in speed as well. It even knows my name and birth date for cripes sakes. So I'm afraid at what its going to do tomorrow, as I turn the big 3-0.

I mostly do long distance riding. I commute back and forth to work four times a week, round trip of 30k's. So I use that as my base mileage. I throw in a couple of 50k rides if I can during the week and if I can, do a 80k ride once a week. I don't ride every day though. There have been a times, where I don't get on the bike for a couple days.

Eventually, I hope to make 100k rides a regular thing and then, work my way up to a standard Century ride of 162k's. That will be so cool. Hopefully if I stay on track over the winter, by getting on the trainer and sticking to it, I'll be good to go by spring next year.
