Winter Cycling - Need a thin wool sock

I have 2 pairs of street shoes that I bike in: a mesh running shoe and a leather Puma Turin. The Turins are good for the cold b/c they are wind resistant but they are a bit small and all of my athletic socks, apart from the Under Armours, are too thick to fit comfortably in them. Are there any thin wool socks that would work in this situation? I prefer black or white.

There are heaps of thin wool socks in the lady's department of Walmart these days. I picked up several recently ... I find them very comfortable and warm for wearing to school, work, etc.

And here I'm choking on $8 for 2 pair of wool socks at Walmart! (I got my recent 4 pair for $12 on a special offer) Unless your feet are really big, I'd go check the lady's department.

DeFeet makes some nice, thin wool cycling socks.

I sue smartwool for thick wool winter socks, and defeet woolie boolie for thin wool the rest of the year.

thedon, yes, that is a good price for SmartWool (http://www.SmartWool.com) socks, depending on the model. A good one to start with is the Adrenaline series.

There will always be detractors and haters here because of their price. You also get what you pay for with them. They have a special "looped" construction that practically feels like cashmere and there are no seams that touch your skin. A bit pricey? Sure...until you realize you have pairs that are five years old with elastic that is as good as new and fabric that practically shows no wear.

Smartwool: Medium/heayweight/sports/hiking socks rule! Lightweight/dress socks, not so much.
