Ouch :(

I just went out for a ride and 15 minutes out, I notice a weird feeling from my front tire. I stop and check it out and notice that one of those industrial staples has gone right through my front Continental Grand Prix tire and air is hissing out :(

The inner tube is gone (not that it matters) but how about the tire? Should I replace that as well?

If its just a puncture and not a cut in the tire you should
be ok, what I'd do is put a patch to reinforce the inside
of the tire over the puncture.
If its cut, get a new tire.

I'll second that. I've pulled many staples out of tires and unless they actually rip the casing, I've not had to replace the tire.

What constitutes a "cut"? I have a small gash in the road-to-tire surface of my rear Mavic but am hoping to get a couple 100 more miles. The gash hasn't broken through the tire but is probably half the thickness. I've put some SuperGlue in it per some other thread's suggestion. Do I need a new one?

Probably not. Keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks. If the gash doesn't grow, don't worry about it. After that, check it every now and then, like when you clean your chain.

Don't know what others think (I'd be interested in others experience), but I don't worry too much about tire damage unless the casing (i.e. the threads... sidewalls or rolling surface) are damaged.

I had a small cut in my last tire out on a ride. I put a piece of a Power bar wrapper over over the cut and the wrapper was sticky so it stuck to the cut like glue ;) So I reinstalled the tube. A few months later when I changed tires the wrapper was still there. No trouble if the cut doesn't grow no worries.
