I think I found a good one this time...Picked this up yesterday at a thrift store. I could'nt leave it there. The headbadge is stamped 0962. It is a 1982. To me it looks all original(except for the camo bar wrap) even down to the tires. This thing was taken care of pretty well. Someone had put some stickers over the LeTour decals so when I took them off some of them came with them. The seriel number on the left dropout is SC211637. The link has more up close pictures of the components. I'm glad I picked it up.

Dang, I had one of those, in my size frame too. I sold it for cheap to a college kid because I thought it was an older Schwinn. It was no where near as nice as the one you found. Yours looks like A NOS bike. Nice find. Here's the catalog link.

brandenjs, I sold this one for $35 to a college kid who needed a ride. The bars were damaged and the chrome rims came off a Schwinn world tourist. Still, it rode like a champ, I mean really nice. The kid took one ride on it and shoved the $35 in my hands and ran. Guess he knew what he was doing. Why I didn't do my research like you did, I'll never know.
Best of luck with yours, it's a sweet riding bike.
wow, that thing is as old as me! haha

That is sweet! My dad has an '80s Le Tour , and it is in great shape, too! Though he doesn't ride anymore, he won't part with it. Not even for his daughter... :P

Who is he saving it for, then? Is it your size?

Yeah the more I look at this bike the more I like it. I'm going to change the tires before I do any serious riding on it, they look a little old to trust. I'd like to find the Le Tour decals for it since these are almost gone. If anyone knows where I can find them let me know. I think it was a decent buy at $50.

East, I guess it's more appropriate to say that he won't part with it right now. I know I will end up with it eventually. :P Just when I'm there and salivating over it, he seems a little hesitant. I don't mean to make him out to be a bad guy, he is simply awesome, if not a little silly. :)

Thanks for the link rocco. That's awesome. This bike really has not been touched except for the saddle and bar wrap. The picture on the link is identical. I'm like a kid with a new toy. My wife just can't understand why I got excited when I got it. But she does'nt have the classic fever yet..I'm still working on that...
