This morning on my ride in rural Lucas (chipseal Kingdom) I crested a hill to find 3 of the largest goats I've ever seen standing in the middle of the road. :eek: The one closest to me was eye level with my elbow (me on bike) and the horns a foot taller than that. I had shifted down and was standing going up the hill, and I guess I startled them because at first they backed off as I crested. Then the biggest one started at me. It was one of those times when the oddest thoughts come to mind. The story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and I think they thought I was the troll! I think I heard him say the following as he started towards me.
Well, come along! I've got two spears,
And I'll poke your eyeballs out at your ears;
I've got besides two curling-stones,
And I'll crush you to bits, body and bones.
Anyway, luckily it was the downhill side, I was already in low gear and he didn't really make a sincere effort so he didn't catch up to butt me.
But I wonder what a 1 foot horn would do if hit went into your spokes at 15 - 18 mph?
