I think it was a poor choice for several reasons,
1) The neither the word recreation nor the word utility appears in the article but family and car free or carfree do. So it seems more relevant to car free than recreation&family or utility.
2) The bread crumb as you call it moves down the list even as people post about the article so it may disappear from car free even as the thread is still active.
3) Car culture people come in here asserting that you can't be car free with a family.
