Introductions - Newbie from Philly

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'll try this again, my post has been deleted twice so far...... I've been looking over the forums here for a little over a week now and I must say they were very helpful in my purchasing of my road bike ( just got it yesterday). Now I'm just waiting to go buy some gear from the LBS. Anyway as the title says I'm from Philadelphia. I'm a total newbie with this being my first bike since childhood, but i'm really excited about riding. Well if anyone knows any good places to ride or knows a good LBS to reccomend, drop me a line.
~Mike
BTW. The bike is a Cannondale R300 with 105 components. There are a few upgrades such as a Reynolds Ouzo Comp fork, an Easton carbon-fiber seatpost, and a Selle Italia Max Flite seat.

hey Hunter
welcome to the forums, sorry about the posts being deleted, there was a database crash the other night which caused some posts to be deleted :(
ah well, such is life... anyhow I have a friend in philly, he rides a little but I think he's more into rowing than anything else. I'll see if I can't find out where some good trails are :)

Thanks Vegas
Funny that you should mention your friend being a rower. The only place I have really ridden so far is Kelly Drive, which runs along the Schuykill River where everyone rows. So anyway if you hear about any places to ride that's be great. Thanks for the info.

kelly drive is a good place to start riding, but on the ROAD and not on the bike path. my good friend was in a terrible bike crash - head trauma - because of irresponsible cyclists on the bike path. if you go up main street past manayunk, you'll also be able to find the valley forge bike trail, which runs from miquon up to valley forge.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go check out the valley forge trail monday morning. And sorry to hear about your friend, I hope he is ok now.
