I am looking at getting a P3C and thought about using my LOOK pedals off of my road bike (that I will probably get rid of) but am think I want to go all new. Any suggestions.

I've used Speedplay for a few seasons and never had any problems with them, though they could be an issue if you choose not to leave your shoes on the bike for T1 (tough cleats to run in). In any case, I think I've decided that my next pair of pedals will also be Speedplays. Happy hunting.

By the way, I'm originally from Alabama. Any good triathlons down there now? I was contemplating doing one the next time I visit the family (Central Alabama).

By your name you either went to Auburn or now live in Kansas. Anywho, I just got into it last year and started with the sprints. First, I did the Grandman in Fairhope in June, then the Santa Rosa Island in P'cola in Oct, and then the Destin Crab Trap also in Oct. My wife and I are actually from the B'Ham are but came to college down here. I haven't done any of the central AL ones but may make the trip for my new addiction. If you were willing to make the trip to the coast, these are alot of fun.

I think Look pedals are the most common for tri folks. I personally use Shimano SPD-SL's on all of my bikes (Roadie, Tri, Fixie). They're a great choice for me.
I too use Shimano SPD SL's.
Powerman Alabama is a first rate duathlon.

I'm a Shimano fan... Big wide base, easy in/easy out, you can keep your shoes in and make your transitions faster. Races are won and lost in the transition area. I ride the same DA pedals on both my tri and road bike.

speedplay for me on my road bikes(road and tri). I leave my shoes on the bike when I mount/dismount. So running in them is a non issue. Like was said, if you dont do this. I would be hesitant to say get speedplays. The cleats are expensive to replace, and because they are metal, when you run on pavement, they are slippery.
