Went down to the parking lot and it's not there.
I'm just a tad upset.
I'm down at the coast and not at home.
The neighbor has told me to watch my language (which became exponentially worse at that point).
The cops said they would be here by 9:00 (two hours and 40 mins. from now).
I want to violently break things (partly to piss of the neighbor).

Sure you didn't park it funny and let it fly down the hill again? :D

Don't I know it.
At least there is a bar/resturant within walking distance.

Nope I'm in flat land country. I did look in the marsh before I called the cops though.

Hmmm? You know after reading through the "How to break it off" thread, think my car is trying to tell me something?

Have you and your car been having "issues" lately? Does she not turn you on like she once did? Is she tired of your boring and predictable driving habits? Have you bought her any nice new presents lately? Tires? Tinted windows? Maybe you can spice things up a bit for the sake of the relationship....a little "additive" in the oil perhaps.

AllenG

^^^^
I don't know if buying presents will work now. Seems as if she has left me for someone else. And if she does come back there are going to be the inevitable trust issues, wondering where she has been, what's that smell, do I even want to look in the glove box, etc.?

BTW thanks KT (lightened my mood), and the lamp and wall thank you too.

Whoa Allen, that's messed up. I hope that they find it and not too beat up. Most of all, I hope they find the punks that did this.

Good luck. ((hugs))

True to their word the cops showed up before nine. Paperwork is filled out.

I do have a bike down here. Going to go to the LBS tomorrow and see how fat of a tire I can squeeze on it. Anyone want to take an across Georgia bike tour?

Allen, bad things happen for good reasons. You'll find another car. Something that fits your current mood & mindset. This will be a better car, one that understands your needs, wants and desires... One that deserves you.

Your old car didn't deserve you. Running off like that , on a whim, with another person. And not even a "Dear Allen" note for your trouble.

I know it's tough, but you've gotta stay strong. You have friends for support. You can count on us!

Just to let you know... I'll lend you my shotgun for when you find the bastige. :D

Who knows, maybe if you still had it, you could be driving it normally, and crashed somehow resulting in something worse or death. Perhaps some good will come out of this incident.

Allen, I had a car stolen once. I couldn't get lucky though, the police found it 10 blocks away with a note attached to the steering wheel saying "Thanks anyway, but I think I'd rather walk!"

Then again, this car was so sad that car stereo thieves used to break in to it and INSTALL charity car stereos because they felt sorry for me ;)

EDIT: The car eventually died when I had a truck pass me on a 2 lane going the opposite way and the hood and left fender blew off on the shockwave

Any chance you were parking in a tow-zone?

Have had that happen several times.

Does anyone know where your bicycle was at the time of the car's disappearance? Is the bicycle acting nervous, avoiding direct eye contact, or being just shifty in general? Has it vowed to find your car's kidnappers, and not rest until it is found... while heading to the golf course? Does it vigorously point out how one bicycling glove does not fit, and therefore you must acquit? I'm not saying... I'm just sayin'. Maybe relaxing with a tall glass of OJ will help to put things in perspective.

Seriously though, good luck...

If you get another car, get one with an immobilizer.

I had no idea you owned a car. I thought that with that uber-nifty bicycle-truck arrangement you had, you were one of those car free people whom I admire so much.

Hope everything works out for you.

So if he used his car sparingly, and the "new owner" drives it all over the state, this is somehow better?

And on these forums, we support our own, period.

Yeah, I had a car and still have a truck (live in the middle of nowhere georgia). I just don't drive much. Usually only when I have out of town business, or bike inappropriate loads like taking my dog to the vet.

Allen's one of those über-nifty people who uses his motor vehicles in a truly judicious and conservative manner. :)

How's it going this morning, Allen?

I'm doing well this morning (afternoon). My sister is going to be kind enough to come down a fetch me (so long as I buy her dinner) and I've got brand new motivation to finish my frame.

The insurance agent is going to meet with me on Wednesday about settling the claim. I think I'm going to have to wait a few weeks to see if she turns up, but it won't put a crimp in my schedule.

How have you been? Haven't spoken in a few weeks. Y'all still getting that sumptuous rain in Portland?

Yup. At least you have your priorities straight. Although... isn't your bike lonely in that garage? Mine lives in the bedroom. ;)

I'm on the 4th floor down here. Can't get the bike into the elevator. At home the dining room has been put to better use than a place to eat (that is what laps are for).

Cars belong outside, precious things indoors.

When the going gets tough, you can always count on a sibling. :) Doing pretty well, Alan. We've had rain interspersed with some sun. I always appreciate that before the colder, wetter weather comes. Tomorrow's the Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show (http://bikeportland.org/2007/11/10/an-appetizer-of-oregon-made-bicycles/). I'll remember to get lots of bamboo pics for you.

then it sounds like something new and shiny is in your future if it doesnt turn up. I had a car stolen once, they found it in the next county with the engine burned up and full of bullet holes. it was a total write off and the value of the car was 1300.00 not even enough for a decent down payment.
