I have a new road bike with the STI cable stops brazed onto the head tube. Trouble is the cable housing into the drive side stop and the cable housing for the front brake caliper really press against each other when I turn the bars. I've tried crossing the STI cables (the cable for the right shifter enters the left side stop and the left cable enters the right stop), but it still doesn't seem right. Are there any tricks to this?

Crossing the cables to the other side of the head tube works for some bikes but not for others. The issue has to do with where the cable stops are located. If the cable stops are too high, the shift cables will rub the bottom of the down tube where they cross.

Did you run the rear derailleur cable (the one on the drive side) inside the front brake cable? If you did, I don't see how they ever touch each other until you turn the bars very far to the left and you never do this in normal riding. If you are concerned, wrap a turn or two of electrical tape around both cables where they cross so they don't wear on eachother.
