- well, i don't live up in your neck of the woods, but i watched th 2007 Ford Ironman from the comfort of a lawn chair in the front of the house (it was hot outside!)...

:-)

(winning time for 1.2mi swim, 56mi bike ride, 13.1mi run was 3:42 by USA's Mike Potts)

i ran the gobbler hobbler 10k and did it 2:42 faster then last year. for the metric impaired that is 6.2 miles of running in 47:17, which lends a 7:37 per mile pace. i think i had more to give in the middle miles, but i am still learning this running thing.

then i ate at red robin, watched bourne indentity and drank beers.

later.

Went for a hike after work this morning at 8am, then caught up on lost sleep.

Movies watched this week from Netflicks (click on titles):

Vive Le Tour (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056662/) - shortish French film about the 1961 or '62 Tour de France with Rik Van Looy, Federico Bahamontes and Jacques Anquetil. Excellent footage with those tough old buggers in wool jerseys and shorts. English subtitles and HIGHLY recommended!!

Red Light Go (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0360920/) = Documentary about life as a bike messenger in New York City. Including their 'Alley Cat' racing in the city. NO BRAKES! Full of interviews and really gives a nice perspective on what it's like. THose guys are nuts! Again HIGHLY recommended!!

weather went bad this morning sooo, cleaned the basement, it really needed it too! Went to the local backpacking shop and got some warm stuff for the coming winter and a new ski rake for the car.

Organized all my ride maps and put my home bike shop in order, have some projects for the winter to do.

The real bummer is I have tommorrow off and the weather looks even worst, aughhhhhhh!!!

Went for a ride this morning since the weather was cold but sunny. If we had ice coupled with wet leaves, it would have been a run on the treadmill at the excellent Y.M.C.A. near my home.

Wheel barrowed nearly a thousand pounds of log sections from my neighbors' back yard to my wood-pile. Why, I do not know, as I will be moving back East long before I can burn it. Any one in the Bay area want several tons of firewood?

we were at my inlaws house in Pittsburgh (Murrysville) PA this weekend. They live at the top of a VERY VERY steep climb. My son wanted to see if he could climb the hill on his mountain bike so he and I went out for a little climbing session. After that we watched the Steelers beat up on the Browns then we drove the almost 3 hours home. I did some work on our basement construction after we got home and know.....here I am.

Sorry, aham, the only contruction projects I'm proficient at are making birdhouses with my 7yo. I know a guy that does a great job finishing basements if you're interested though. Pics and references available. I do "car" jobs...anything that doesn't require pulling the engine out...if anyone needs anything done ;)

Then I can Spend the money on a nice pair of ceramic bearings, got to be better than on my teeth, they grow back, right? Just kidding!

Since this was asked on the 10th, I'll refer to what I did that day...

Nope. Didn't ride. I did pick up my parents and took them out to breakfast for my dad's birthday though, then spent the afternoon shopping with my wife at an outdoor mall - the weather was awesome!

However, and this is the juicy part, a week earlier I did do my cardiac stress test.

The results show I hit 184bpm at a max test duration of 15 minutes. Woohoo!!! This is compared to only a max HR of 169 and duration of 13 minutes in July '06.

Cool. :)

I'm watching "Pumping Iron" with Arnold Schwartzenripper. I *LOVE* this film. Yeah, they used steroids, but they pushed themselves too. Arnold and another guy squatting massive poundage, the guy falls to the ground in agony, and Arnold calmly says in his Austrian accent: "C'mon, lets get zerious now." http://www.freedomcrowsnest.org/forum/images/smiles/blink.gif I also love the way Lou Ferrigno's dad talks: "THis is your only chance Louie, give it all you've got".

"Pumping Iron II - THe women" is a good one too. Netflicks doesn't have that one, but I taped it off DTV once, so I've got that one around somewhere.

Not cycling, but good motivational material, which is what I need during the winter.

1. Stayed away from the stores.
2. Worked around the house and yard. Washed the car, still gotta get those snow tires on.
3. Cleaned up the MTB and rode it around the neighborhood a little. Remembered that I
still need to build a new rear wheel. "Oh yeah! " Could use new tires on it as well. I finally got around to seeing that "MTB Fundamentals " DVD from Netflicks. It's focus is mostly on
downhill, but lots of good stuff that's general in nature. It's well done - I recommend it.
4. Will still get a few KM in on the Nordic Track this afternoon. I scoped out the ski trails at Minooka Park yesterday
after the snow ... saw a few ski tracks, but it's too early around here really.
5. Stayed away from the stores ... did I mention that? :D

Stuck at work right now doing nothing (no one else is working, makes it hard to find news)... Will hop on the spinning bike when I get home (and another two hours tomorrow AM with a Netflix movie). Hope to squeeze a real ride in Sunday when high temps are forecast in the low-40s.
