Now I'm actually sad that I didn't ride it. I followed the riders for nearly 40 of the 62 miles, the hilly portion. It was a very nice course. First section was straight across Foothill to the dragstrip at the fairplex and Raging Waters (E St.). The riders had the entire lane while riding Foothill as they had a police escort. One or two cars and a few motorsickles. I heard someone mention the ride was 600 riders strong.
Like always, I took my toolbox and floor pump. I got the chance to aid 3 riders with flats and one sag up Baldy Rd. I spent a big part of my time standing on the steep section of Baldy Rd cheering on the riders. Many struggling riders that seemed to appreciate the ol "C'mon, you're almost there, jus a lil more'! I didn't have any plans of sagging anyone up the hill but ended up driving one guy up. He was at the end of the ride. He was having a very hard time so I helped him out. At the top he asked if I could put some air in his tires. He had 20 psi in one and 40psi in the other. I asked if he had a flat earlier. Nope, just haven't put air in my tires since last week. Oh Brother! You know I gave him the 'check and air your tires before everyride ' speech. He was a newbie and I gave him an earful!:D
I ran into several riders I knew, snapped a couple too. Also spent some time at the postride meal speaking to a few. It was a good time and I'm really sorry I didn't do it, next year for sure! I think this is a ride MANY of you would enjoy! And no, I don't work for the sponsor, just looked like a good ride!
