Hi everyone,
What are (in your opinion) the best places to go road riding within, say, 60-90 minute driving range from San Diego? I'm looking for rides that are 40-60 (+?) miles in length, involve climbing of some sort, and have minimal traffic. I've done both Palomar and Camp Pendleton on previous trips and am looking for something new.
Thanks --

Really? No one else has a favorite ride in the San Diego area they want to share?
5000+ feet of climbing is fine as long as there aren't extended (i.e. miles) periods where the grade is absurd ...

All my favorites were burned out in the fires :(:( Palomar, Highland Valley Road, Couser Canyon, Rice Valley, etc. They're all still ridable but far less scenic I fear.
Check out Bikely (http://www.bikely.com/) and search for routes by area (Escondido, Oceanside, Fallbrook, etc) Ther are many to choose from and you can check the elevation profiles to find ones that fit your goals.
