If not, I recommend it. This week's has a long article that Ed Pavelka wrote concerning the Paris-Brest-Paris ride that he just finished. It's a long one and I'd be doing him and his advertisers a disservice by publishing it here, but I can recommend everyone interested in ultra-long distance riding to read it.

It's a good article... I have much respect for guys that go super long distances... I'm still working on my first century ride... and the guys that do PBP go like 750 miles... it's amazing... yer butt must be throbbing afterwards

Ha- I just posted the article on the forum. I've been following his training for the P-B-P since spring. I think this is the best article they've written yet (although the newsletters that come in are always good- I've got them saved for years back).

Sooo, was anybody else's hosed this week (Ed's Peculiar PBP)? Mine had the same post, duplicated about 5 times in a single email.

At the beginning, the message said:

The newsletter will return to its normal format next Thursday.
I sure hope so!

yeah the list of `injuries' that he mentioned was scary. you really need to put your body on the line to do the PBP.

I'm off next week to ride Perth to Hobart, 4300 Kms over 32 days. The distances we do are far far more sedate than PBP, thank goodness ! Plus I don't have any 2nd skin to apply when my crotch gets to the state that Ed's go to.

I did PBP this year. Finished in 88 hours 45 mins.

Its not the cycling that's hard, the route is mostly undulating, only a couple of hills that are worth the mention. The main problem is sleep deprivation.

We started at 22:00 Monday (so we'd been up since 6:00 am) and finished 14:45 Friday. and between those times we only had about 9 hours sleep.

My Brooks saddle stopped my butt from parting company with the rest of my body. My main problem is numb toes and fingers and a loss of grip strength in my right hand.

I cannot recommend PBP highly enough as an experience of a lifetime. While I was on the ride I couldn't figure out why people do it more than once. Now I'm done I'm already planning for 2007

Nope, I didn't.

Many times, people have posted articles here on the forum. I included the copyright information and the name of the article and who edited and produced it. Rarely do I see others posting LINKS to articles they posted. It's never a necessity to do so, and I did not.

People can add 2 and 2 and know it makes 4. If they need more information than what is provided, they can always do a Google search or PM me if they need more information. Legally, I didn't do anything wrong, and as you can see, I STILL haven't provided a link.... I skimmed no lines and gave the credit where credit was due. I actually thought the little "admonishment" was a bit b*tchy, if you ask me- seeing as though no one on the forum who's ever done what I did has ever been "chastised" by a member. Then again, I've seen others post the articles and not even put in the copyright information either. No one says a word.

I'm still not including the link. What I posted is perfectly fine.
