This is annoying.

I bought a Centurion bike at the local Salvation Army, parted it out and kept the rims. It had a nice pair of 27" Wolber Super Champion Gentleman 81 rims on it. The brake surfaces seemed OK. The only real reason I bought the bike is because of those rims.

Today, I cleaned them up and found this:

They were dirty, I could not see this in the store.

I even had the right length spokes to build a nice set of wheels.

Now I have one good rim in this style, and another that does not match, a Wolber Modele 58.

Anyone got one or the other, 36 hole? :D

I think I have a model 58 (or 2) I would love to get my hands on your 81, but it doesn't look polished.. and my lone 81 is polished.

Could you post a photo of the label(s)? As the organizer of a single's club for rims I may be able to help.

OK, that made me laugh! I have more than a few single rims here, too.

Here is the cracked rim, which has a matte silver finish:

Here is the other rim that I have, which is polished:

Shoot, I could use a pair of these 27" rims myself. Anybody out there that might have not only Koala's matching rim, but perhaps a pair of something similar? Or a single one that another member might have a match to?

I think the Wolber 58's I have are black label...have to check when I get home. I do know they are 27x1-1/4

Humph. If the finishes were reversed I'd definately have one for ya'. I have a Model 58 which would be perfect, except for being silver anodized. I also have an early (non-Wolber) Super Champion Gentleman 81 in silver anodized and an early Super Champion Competition Gentleman (not "81") which is polished. All 27" and I'm pretty sure they're all 36h. I'm sorry I can't come closer than those at the moment.

Yeah my model 58s are red label 700c... My single 81 is also red label and polished.

Aaron, I don't care what label they are - I'll rip 'em off and replace with matching ones if required; so long as the rims match.
