Just a seasonal safety warning. Don't assume these bone heads with internal combustion are as well prepared for snow and ice as you are! I just about got twapped by some idot who couldn't stop at a red traffic light. I had the green and starterd, but he sailed through. Thankfully MY brakes and studs were working great and I stopped in time to avoid entanglement.
Flipping idiots. It's only FRICKING ALASKA! No need to do anything radical like, I don't know, PREPARE.

Around here it's always the drivers who can't be bothered with completely scraping their windows. There's a half dozen bent frames and tacoed wheels every year coming through my preferred LBS after drivers pull away from stop signs and right into them.
Another case in point, right near my commute:

A semi pulling a belly dump trailer struck a pedestrian at a downtown corner and dragged him 10 blocks, killing him.
I agree after a couple of months some of the drivers actually slow down.
My tip- If the weather is that bad, get a ride. Been there done that! not much fun at all.
Wait the ride was fun but not at that time.
