Bicycle Mechanics - can't remove left side cup from isis bb

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
it's not in the bike - I bought it used on ebay. how do I remove the damn thing. It seems like it's fused to it. I obviously can't install it if I can't remove the 'removable' cup.

That's a fixed cup. It should not be removable. Check this Park Tool article: http://parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=94.

not sure what you're getting at. the right side is fixed. the left side is supposed to come off.
click on iss and square bb here - that's the one I've got:

I think I know what you're talking about. I bought a Nashbar branded ISIS bb once, the left side "cup" was pressed over the body of the bb, maybe to assure that the parts didn't get separated during shipping, I don't know. Anyway, if I remember correctly, I was able to twist, turn, and wrestle it off by hand. Beyond that, maybe carefully secure it in a vice, making sure not to damage it, and then twist, turn, and wrestle the parts apart-

you are trying to remove the side without the flange, correct? sometimes you have to persuade it a little bit by LIGHTLY clamping the cup in a vise (protecting the delicate threads with a rag, or blocks of wood, or using soft jaws, or a shaft clamp of the correct size) and then giving the spindle a tap with a light weight plastic or rubber ended mallet.
exactly what i'm talking about gentlemen...thanks. I 'll give that a try.
