So, I know that the group will ride a short section of the SGRT while heading to Sierra Madre. Is there anyway around the SGRT. I would sure hate to get mugged right after Black Friday!:D

I bought new gloves, a skullcap and toe warmers today at Performance. It's going to be cold up there going forward for awhile. Tis the season...

I agree with your assessment of temperatures. I am seeing predictions for all sunny but some serious winds both in Glendora and Mt. Baldy. NE 20-30mph and more at Mt. Baldy. Wind always changes the feel of a ride wouldn’t you say?

Wind, schmind. Look it, we can always go back down East Fork if it's too cold or windy. This is the Baldy LITE ride. The Baldy Century boys have to tough it out no matter what. But we don't. :D

It is dead calm in LA with an unfortunate but a fantastic view of the smoke rising from the Malibu fire next to the setting full moon. See you guys out there.

I just talked with Joy, she is over on PCH side of things but she said the smoke in the SM mountains is thick and horizontal. She wanted to let everyone know that GMR may be closed as a precautionary measure with the strong winds.

I don't know if this is old info.

Just got back from the ride. GMR was not closed, but it was so friggin' windy at the junction, that most of us immediately made a u-turn back. Some of the hardcore climbers continued on GRR, braving the heavy winds. I even heard going on East Fork wouldn't be any easier, as it had really heavy cross winds. Best bet was to go back down hill. No smoke in the air to notice, but the wind was sure noticeable. Wind schmind ... we're wimps!
