Hi,
just put a Fuji on layaway at my LBS. It is in excellent shape. Was wondering what anyone remembers about it. Looks like it's
20 years old give or take a few. Going to use it on my trainer this winter; but I think I will take it for a nice long spin when I get it.
What's a tough cheap 27" tire?

How cheap is cheap? You can still buy 27" tires at WalMart/Sports Authority and etc. for 8.99 or so. They fit, they're cheap and will probably get you thru the winter OK. I remember back in the Boom days that hardcore tourers liked to ride 27" as they knew they could find a tire in any town, anywhere.

Other than that the 27" supply ain't great. There's a guy on eBay that periodically sells IRCs (I think) in bulk for a good price. An old Schwinn shop might have some around. Harris Cyclery does as well (sheldonbrown.com)/

Hi,
want to know how dumb I am? I bought a couple tires from Harris earllier this year. I have even been to the store; I know they specialise in the unusual.
Never crossed my mind. Now that I'm awake, I checked Nashbar, they have a few to pick from. Will prob grab a couple as I have heard trainers can be hard on tires. Will check Walmart, too. Didn't think of that one.

If you didn't already get those tires, I would just suggest that you get an inexpensive 700c wheel and long-drop brakes...I been through trying to find those stupid 27" tires. I'm always dissapointed in what I get.
