is there a resource that has a detailed analysis of all of the available tubing choices. Ie comparing most of the steel tubing options in regards to weight/strength/durability...

Some good info is available on the Strong website http://www.strongframes.com/material_tech/?PHPSESSID=cec5653160263908ac0bbc282925dbbb

Frankly there is tons on information out there but it's not compiled in one place - you need to do that yourself. In a nutshell, you don't really need to worry about strength since the tube manufactures will not sell you something that will fail in use. Focus on the thickness and diameter to get the ride quality you desire and the other things will follow.
