Hey,
I Just built up a Leader 735tr, with Mavic Clincher wheels.

I am always running my other fixed gear on the road, and i use these cheap $10 tires from my lbs.

What tires should I use on my track bike, which I intend to use for the track half the time (concrete), and Fiesta Island (san diego, bike loop) the other half.

Would you recommend buying the $50 Kevlar Tires, or the cheapo's.
I am mainly wondering just about the performance of each tire. If they run differently or if it is just better for flats.

You'll never go wrong with Kevlar tires on the street, but since you're going to be riding your bike mostly on a dedicated bike path, the extra protection Kevlar offers might be unwarranted. I would stick with a basic slick tire. You should be able to get a nice one for around $15-$20 per tire, maybe less if you do some eBay shopping.

I think he's talking about kevlar as in kevlar bead not kevlar puncture protection. Kevlar beads main advantage is weight. For san diego what tire you use isn't as important as it would be on a steeper track so you can get away with whatever you want to spend. Nicer tires do generally ride better though.
