Does anyone know of a current cruiser that is steel and comes with a derailleur? I'm looking for one for a project.

I've got a steel Schwinn 5 Star Cruiser with a derailleur. I picked it up at a local Canadian Tire a few years ago. I just checked the Schwinn site and it looks like they've updated it to "7000 Series Alloy"

Just looking around some, it seems most of the cruiser style bikes are either single speed, 3-speed hubs, or 7-speed hubs. And the 3 and 7-speed versions all seem to be aluminum.

What exactly are you after? You might find some mountain bike frames that would work.

I'm looking to put together a retro Klunker type MTB. The originals were based on 1940's Schwinns. Their price has soared lately. I figured a current cruiser frame in steel with a derailleur hanger would make life a lot easier.
