ha! count me in! Assuming I can get work off... April 27 MIGHT be the end of my needing to be at my shop 24/7. Depends on what the boss sez... (employed by one of largest bike dealers in the midwest).

Perhaps I can even come in company kit! I wonder how my road bike held out this winter?

Tell them you have a test ride to do. Tricky problem that you can't figure out. You'll be back when you're done.

EDIT:Bring back doughnuts, coffee, and/or beer and all will be forgiven/forgotten.

ha! Unfortunately we don't have any 08 Tarmac SL-2s for sale in my shop in my size.. probably won't either... DAMN THESE SHORT LEGS!

But, that would give me a distinct advantage.

SICKOS! First you ask someone if they've got a date...and now you "assume you're thinking about WHAT?" Isn't that getting a little personal? And Psimet, I don't even want to know about holding your breath and wearing cleats. PLEEEASE, keep your sex life out of this.:p

I believe April 27th is her birthday? 29 years old or something like that.

Hey now...that whole weekend pissed myself off:(

Not sure how i missed that date, i looked. It's been a long day.

Too early to tell if i can go or not, i it was after may 17th...graduation day...then i'd be there. As it stands right now i'll know more when it gets closer to that date ;). This thing is about 4 1/2 hours away from me...

**edit**Hell, i don't even know if i'll have a bike at that point, depends on when pedal force gets those frames out :(.

Yeah I'll be your date. Just remember it's my birthday. I'll be busy, you know, opening gifts and receiving my birthday greetings (or condolences, as it may be) so I might not have too much time to hang out with you. :D ;)

Oh, and I think my mom is coming so you might have 2 gals!!!! :p

Someone around here has a spare bike to loan you. Of that, I'm completely sure. :)

I'm trying to get my dads old Schwinn Continental running again, i'll be rocking that in a few weeks i'm sure. If that fails i'm also looking to score an old LeTour from one of two dopey college kids.

We'll work that out...i hope. :D

What size do you ride?

For my "backup old steel junker" i'm not going to be too picky. My dads Continental is a 22" frame i think. I'd like to find a LeTour that is more my size though. On a "standard" frame (ie not a compact) i like to be around 54-55cm with a top tube no longer than 55cm.

I'm 5'10" with a 30" inseam...

Having never been to New Glarus, any recomendations for lodging??

We made a Saturday night reservation at Chalet Landhaus (http://chaletlandhaus.com/) in New Glarus. It looks appropriately pseudo-Swiss alpine in nature.

The family is coming up for the ride / beerfest, though I think the little ones will be interested mostly in the beer.

Is the ride on Saturday morning or Sunday, and what time do we shove off?

"though I think the little ones"

How old are the little ones?? Mine are 7 and 4 and I'm trying to decide if they should come with the wife and I.

3 and 1.5. They know their beer. I'm fairly certain the legal drinking age in Wisconsin got lowered to 18 months last week so all of the state could drown their collective sorrow concerning Favreageddon*.

The ride is on Sunday 4/27, per the first page of the thread here. Shove off time? Not sure. iab, can you assist with this information?

If i can make it, i wont bring any family, but i will be bringing some legs that are vastly out of shape. Not that i'm an interesting conversation piece for a family or anything, but at least your kid can look out the back while daddy drops me to oblivion.

Psimet. I mentioned to my wife that others are bringing kids and maybe we should rethink the whole, romantic weekend without the kids thing. I had NO idea she could hit so hard, I thought I got tased again. My ears are still ringing. Sorry, guess you'll have to stop by some night to meet the kids.

Timmyquest said "but i will be bringing some legs that are vastly out of shape"

I want to know how you got my legs. I hadn't noticed them missing :D

Ive been trying. Did an hour at the YMCA yesterday on the bike. Ive dropped 30 pounds and hope to get another 10 off by the ride. I'm hoping that will help compensate a little for lack of really long rides so far. The hills are whats scaring the crap outta me.

Is this ride really casually oriented? I'm thinking of riding this, but I've never ridden more than ten miles at a time- city riding. I'm hoping to try some longer rides before then - any recommendations?

My wife (who doesn't ride) has been trying to get us up to New Glarus since we met, so I have encouragement at home :)

Thanks,

Erick

There will be peopl there of all skill levels and abilities. There will be some that hammer away into the distance from the start, and others that will be looking for anyone to talk to near the rear.

Not having ridden more than 10 miles I would encourage you to try some distance riding before doing this one. Get 20 miles under you at least. Also worth mentioning is that this is being held in an area that most people would consider to be pretty hilly.

If you go up and make a wekend out of it then your wife will presumably be in the area if you need to make a bailout call. You'll never know until you try.

Oh man, I am going to try to ride today. I have been pretty sick, the same nasty cold everyone has/had, turned into a sinus infection as they often do for me.

I still intend to make this one but don't worry Recursive ... I'll be riding slowly in the back of the pack as I'm way out of shape with the knee trouble ... (at least I hope I'll be able to hang on).

 moi? *looks around* how did I get this reputation?

I think I can suppress the soul-crushing instinct long enough to get in a couple hours of social riding.

*looks around again* Unless someone goes off the front.

Hey Riotgeer: Dont worry about a thing, there will be riders of all types, and since I'm naturally slow, I wont mind having someone at the rear to converse with. I'm no recursive, but then who is, maybe speedy mcawesome, but he's been strangely quiet of late.

Ahh, Kimbercop, it is nice that this board remembers where the Awesome begins and ends. With me.

I have my travel secretary working with my travel agent who is working with Travelocity vis-à-vis Expedia to find a way to fly me in for this BFNIC Spring Classic Ride. We will see how this works into my busy, yet Awesome, cycling schedule.

Be on the lookout and stay Awesome!

Thanks for the replies. I'm planning on trying some excursions up north with an odometer when the new bike gets in.

Is there a registration for this... fees? I haven't been able to find things like start times.

Can anyone point me to ride specifics?

Riotgeer: This is a completely non organized, organized ride. No official sponsors or clubs. Just a few of us Chi-town locals who began calling ourselfs the BFNIC (Bike Forums No.IL Chapter) awhile ago. Our grand exalted poobah, Psimet organized our first unnofficial, official ride two years ago. Since then several more of these have taken place, but always in the flatlands. This year we have voted to venture forth, beyond the cheddar curtain, to get a look at midwest mountains, and drink beer in New Glarus WI. A simply, "Yes, I'll be there" is all we ask. Nothing more official then a quick head count at the starting line at the appointed hour. Then we watch the Recursives, speddy mcawesome types roll away at mach 3. The rest settle into a nice relaxing pace and ride.

No fees, no registration, except maybe at the hotel if you choose to do an overnight, like many of us are planning on doing. If you're concerned about your level of riding ability, trust me when I say we have riders of all abilities in this group. The fast go fast, the slow go slow, and the rest do their own thing. I'm in the slow group and will gladly hang back for conversation. I'm in it for the fun. Think about it seriously, a better group of riders and people you wont find anywhere.

Speedy: Nice to see you back, I missed you're razor sharp tounge (fingers)
