Fifty Plus (50+) - Hey folks, I am really interested . . . in where you are located

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey folks, I am really interested . . . in where you are located

Sometimes I see a post - "I saw a wild trigolasauraus yesterday. We have a lot of them around HERE!

But, I have no clue where HERE is!

If you go to your

"User Control Panel"

"Edit Profile"

and near the bottom is a place for "Location"

Now, you don't need to put your home address in, but a state or region would be GREAT!

That location will show just below your Avatar.

Thanks.

Well, I was born and raised in the San Diego area, and went to the then brand new Disneyland in nearby Anaheim shortly after its opening, and, yes, I do know where Tustin is. I also have relatives who went to college in Whittier (they are Quakers) and some who lived in Alhambra.

I also worked for the US Forest Service in the Cleveland National Forest, which had at that time, one of its regional district offices in nearby Santa Ana.:p

Then you are one of 3 people who know where it is. I usually tell folks I live near Disneyland but now that it's the evil empire (at least in my mind) I'll tell them I live near Newport Beach since it's now a TV show and at least teens will have an idea.

Hey 'Fox. Dude! I'm "WANTED" in the state of Wyoming. . .something about killing Angus calves. Man, I swear all I ate there was mice and crickets. Take a look at their Varmit Hunting Regs brochure, that's MY portrait! I'll share that I'm staying in West [Occupied] Virginia with my cousin Mendel.

It's true, If you drive east of San Diego as far as Jacumba, you can literally see the edge of the earth and watch it drop down into hell. There is a tower at the edge where you may peer down into the abyss.

Ken, You have me confused as well. I know where Ontario, CA is. I've flown out of the Ontario, California airport a number of times. It's right next to Rancho Cucamonga. And I know most of the other cities around there, Claremont, Pomona, Chino, Kaiser, Fontana. But I've never heard of Toronto. Is it one of the new gated communities??? ;)

Funnily enough- I was beginning to think the same. There are so many new names posting at present that I was beginning to think we are attracting the younger set. I am certain that a few are younger- just trying to draw on our experience- but it does help if new members "Announce" themselves aswell with a brief posting of what bike they ride- how fit they think they are and what is their Favourite pie.

With the ever-tightening border security it is becoming increasingly gated, from the USA. :(

I never have liked these 2-letter postal abbreviations.

Very wise. I read that of all the other countries that the U.S. might attack, Canada was deemed the one to give us the fiercest fight.

Interesting. From an astrophysics theoretical perspective, every point in the universe posseses the characteristic of "centerness". Yep, West [Occupied] Virginia is at the center of the known universe, too. 'Course if you know about the place you'll agree I'll bet. . .the US' best kept secret!

No, it is not our border security, but yours. As for our fierce fight, you could destroy our military in a morning. But we would fiercely resist your occupation (where have I heard that before). We would write nasty letters. Eventually, in perhaps 50 years, you would make us a state and grant us citizenship, then we would vote for candidates for president who would otherwise have lost (the 2050 equivalent of Gore or Kerry). We would have the balance of power! That would really piss you off. :D So, it is not worth it.

Nope. If we give legal citizenship to the 30 million or so illegal immigrants from south of the border, they will have the balance of power, and could markedly change our society.

You have only to move to So Cal to know that you don't have to grant legal status to the illegal immigrants for them to have the power... I can no longer walk into any store or use any device, phone ATM that I am not first asked something in spanish... Society here is already remarkedly changed! I feel like I am the foreigner. Eugene Oregon, 100 miles south of Portland.

That's Eugene in the picture, to the west is the Coast Range, then the Pacific Ocean in the top of the frame. Beautiful and hilly riding between Eugene and the beaches.

DnvrFox,

I'm just a few miles NW of where you live. I haven't posted here much, still getting used to the place as I lurk and learn. I posted a question about needing a softer bike a while back and got some good feedback. Wound up buying a Specialized Roubaix and fitting it with a Brooks Swift seat and it has made a huge difference to my riding enjoyment.

One of my regular rides goes east on the C-470 trail and then south on the Cherry Creek trail, right by your place. It's a nice ride except for the traffic lights near Park Meadows Mall.

I rode up Deer Creek and High Grade to Pleasant Park last Saturday and didn't feel like I'd been run over by a truck when I got home. 53 miles round trip from my front door. That High Grade road is about as steep as I care to tackle right now.

My favorite pie is blueberry...

Best Regards,
Ted

I lived in Salt Lake County until three years ago, when my area was annexed by Murray city. Taxes have been rising, and services falling, ever since.:( They do take quite good care of their section of the Jordan parkway Trail, though.

I used to live at Holly and Orchard.

I have done the Deer Creek and High Grade thingy just once, and that was enough by me. I got buzzed by motorcycles doing at least 80 mph (or so it seemed to me!).

We are the subdivision just east of the new Pine Lane Bridge. If you pass the Parker Rec Center, you have just passed where I live.

If you see a Fred on a yellow Lemond BA with a huge red wedge, say "Hi!" as you pass me.
