General Cycling Discussion - Dang...am I Getting Tired Of This

Just a rant and rave at the world......

This year after three heart attacks, five stents placed in my heart, cataract surgery (my right lens is now plastic), the cataract was caused by the steroid that I take for my asthma......

I now fall down and snap a bone in my foot and will not be able to ride until after the snow starts.........

NOW EVERYONE SAY "POOR BABY" SO I CAN FEEL BETTER.:rolleyes:

Have you thought about a hand-cycle until your foot heals? I wonder if medical insurance would cover the cost of that... You'd be buff by the time you get back on a regular bike. :)

Is there no way you could ride at all? Could you simply not put pressure on that particular foot?

If you survived 3 heart attacks this year, and you're still around - count your blessings!!! Really, that is a bummer about your foot, but you're still alive, and you will ride another day. Now, go and find something new and fun to do until that bone heals.

It will seem like forever, but you'll be back!!!!!! :beer:

I was thinking the same thin about the arm bike. And will you be able to at least use a stationary bike with your foot in a cast or whatever?

It's no fun, but when I broke my arm last year I found using the stationary was a good opportunity to litend to all those DVD commentary tracks I usually skip.

I'm sure you'll be OK with those stents -- you have those new-fangled ones that chemically inhibit restenosis, right? Even my five ancient ones (1995-97 vintage) have continued to do the job perfectly well.

I don't have to tell you how important it is to stay active, despite all these setbacks -- particularly now when you're still in the first year after your cardiac events.

Still, any time you need more sympathy, post again. You'll have to bring your own tea, though.

That's a great idea! Have them mold one to the bottom of the cast, and off you go!

Why is it that someone that (presumably) rides and has ridden a bike a lot and should therefore be in very good shape have three heart attacks? And why is it that the only person I know that's had a heart attack used to work as a postman, doing his rounds every day for years on a pushbike? It's just not right.

POOR BABY...

Dang, you looked pretty good when I saw you. We did mount a cleat to a cast, used sheet metal screws. (Make sure they are not to long)
