Title: Tour De Different
When: December
Where: See Below
Distance: See Below

Let's face it; we are creatures of habit. For many of us that have time constraints, we tend to ride the same areas and roads, always trying to get back at a certain time. Riding familiar territory makes that easier as we know what to expect. Indeed my lunch time ride at work, a mere 14 mile jaunt, always times out within seconds, despite traffic signals or weather conditions.

The problem is that this becomes boring and routine, and the excitement of getting on the bike is tempered and muted.

So, I am planning this new event. It's pretty much as described above: Go ride some route that is different! Explore!

The guidelines are simple; you must try a route that offers new territory. It doesn't have to be all new, just parts of it. However the more you attempt to cover new ground, the greater the potential for reward...new views and vistas. It's not important that others have done these areas, only that you haven't.

For my part, I have two new ones in mind that I've never done. The first is heading out via Hidden Valley and down to Camarillo. Done that. But I've never made the left turn and gone out to the coast to ride PCH back to Mulholland. It's a common ride around here, but not for me.

My 2nd is a variation of that. Up Rock Store, down Encinal to Lechusa. Done that. But never made the left to drop to the coast, up the road to Mulholland, etc.

None of these are serious "gotta-plan-in-advance" rides. And they both include some spots I've been to before, however they pass the test of "being different."

So, who's in? These can be BF rides or solo or whatever! Dare to be different in December! Then post your ride report...with pix if ya gottem.

Sheldon

I'll fly out to North Carolina to ride with BikeForums members out there in the last week of December. Is that different enough? :)

By the way, anyone who wants to join me is welcome to come along.

I've been mountain biking for the passed two months. That's different, right? I can take pictures for proof.

Hey Sheldon, as we discussed in the PM hit me up. I've ridden pretty much every road around us and if you have no time constraints when your family is on vaction, would love to venture out with you.
