It happened on the MUP that parallels Brown's Valley Rd., the route we ride frequently into town.

I hope they nail the b*stard. Grrrr.

Grrrr, is right.

Is it me or has there been a significant number of murders and rapes happening recently?
Criminals always crawl out of the woodwork when the economy goes south.

Sexual assault along bike path
By Reporter Staff

A regular evening walk ended violently Sunday night when a Vacaville woman encountered a man who beat and then sexually assaulted her.

The attack occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. as the woman walked on a bike path west of Browns Valley Parkway and north of Clarecastle Way. She saw a man standing on the path and he attempted to converse with her.

But when the woman tried to walk past him, police said, the man grabbed her from behind and dragged her into a bush. Then he struck her in the head several times with a rock, police said, and raped her.

At some point during the attack, the victim managed to fight back. The injured woman picked up a rock and wielded it against her assailant, smacking him in the head numerous times.

The suspect then took off, police said, and was last seen running from the area.

Police were notified and officers set up a perimeter as a California Highway Patrol air unit searched from above.

The suspect - described as a white or Hispanic man, 6 feet tall, thin to medium build, straggly hair, unshaven and scruffy beard, bad body odor and alcohol-laced breath - was not found.

The victim later received treatment for her head wounds.

Anyone who was in the area of Browns Valley Parkway between Clarecastle Way and Glen Eagle Way between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday or who has any information is asked to call Detective Dave Marsh at 469-6616.

Jeez, can't believe someone didn't see it. There's tons of traffic on Browns Valley Road, and not many bushes to hide in.

Jeez, can't believe someone didn't see it. There's tons of traffic on Browns Valley Road, and not many bushes to hide in.

It happened at night, on a section of MUP that has large pine trees overhanging the path, between street lights. It's pretty dark there -- so that no one saw it doesn't surprise me; I'm more surprised no one heard it.

They still haven't caught the b*stard. Boo.
