Lots of bike stuff going un this week y’all, and even more over the rest of the month.
-----
This Saturday (November 17th) the first thing going on is the Frankenbike Swap-Meet. It’s usually the 4th Saturday of the month but due to the holiday Chris bumped it up a week. It’s in North Austin on the 1300 Block of Ruth Avenue (78757) and goes from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Usually a pub crawl follows so come for the cheap bike parts and stay for the drinking, riding and general debauchery. http://www.frankenbike.org
-----
Also during the day on Saturday, the 3rd Annual Fall Alleycat will be tearing its’ way around East Austin. It meets up at 2:00pm at Saltillo Plaza (5th and Comal). There’s a $5 entrance fee for the racers. Bring a bike and a bag. A pen and a map probably wouldn’t hurt. I’ll let someone who’s done the race before describe it:
Note from Brian: now, before you start getting all "**** that, it's a 'messenger race'", I did this race last year and it was one of the most fun, all-inclusive races I've ever done. By that, I mean that I was in horrible shape and still had a really good time. It's a small course (in relation to most races), it's fast, and there are almost no hills, due to the fact that it's on the east side. Even if you don't want to race, the party was great last year and will be great this year. If the weather stays like this, it will be a perfect day to hang out the in sun and drink beers with other smelly cyclists.

Saturday night is the Midnight Moonlight Tower Tour. It meets up at 11:59PM on the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge. If you're from Austin or if you've been here a little while you'll have seen one of the 17 remaining moonlight towers scattered around town. Of the 31 that were erected in 1895 a little over half still remain, and on this ride they'll be visiting all of them. I don't have any other information yet besides the time of the ride and the location but I’m sure it’ll be a blast. BYOB and lights for safety, and check out the myspace page http://www.myspace.com/moonlighttower for more information.

Later this month is the Full Moon Cruise, which meets on the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge at 11:59pm on November the 24th (a Saturday). The rides have been great lately, with over 200 riders showing up. Keep spreading the word and lets get another huge group cruising around for what’s been my favorite monthly ride of late.
-----
Finally the month ends with Critical Mass on Friday November 30th. It meets same bat time, same bat channel. Aka 5:00pm West Mall, in front of the Student Union (Guadalupe around 23rd). Come in indian or pilgrim garb for extra scene points, and at the end of the ride we’ll all re-enact what REALLY happened on the first Thanksgiving. Hell, dress up as a cowboy for all I care, I’m not being too historical about it. It’s critical mass, wear something fun or Paul’ll put us all to shame.
There’s also a bike-in movie going on at 7:30 over at Treasure City after Critical Mass, but I think we should have a longer ride this time so lets make it more like 8:30. Remember it’s not like we have to be anywhere on time so lets keep the pace a little mellower and save the racing for the 17th. If you haven't seen it yet check out the video from last months' critical mass to either see yourself or see what you missed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8dfLHhkVAs
I think that’s about it. If anyone else has ANY other bike events that they want to show up on these lists email me at Jason@ATXBS.com. See you on the rides!
