"We are gearing up and getting ready for the Third Annual Holiday
Light Festival "Bike Night" and wanted to make sure that the word
was getting out to all of the bicycle enthusiasts. The special night
will be on Monday, November 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and
parking for those who will need it will be at the L.A. Z00. We once
again will close off the entire route of the festival to vehicle
traffic and the route will be open only to bicyclists, both
experienced and beginners.
We hope that you will spread the word, so we can get a good turnout
this year. Please do not hesitate to give me a call if you have any
questions or need any information. "
Warmest Wishes,

I've never done this before or been to the festival of lights. How long does it take to ride through it leisurely? My wife would like to do it with me, but we probably couldn't start until 7 or so.

Its only a mile long...
It will take longer to get there or to park there:rolleyes:
I might ride over??? I have driven it at night and ridden thru during the day...
but have family in town so it might be tough

I did it one year and we all started at a different location, rode there and did a full night ride after (i.e. this was just part of it). It's fun if you like lights (I do) and don't mind crowds (I don't at that speed). I think it would be fun if a group emerges and we ride with dinner following or something. But just the ride itself would make for a short evening for sure.

They ban us from this public road during the entire festival, and then we're supposed to be excited that they set aside a special night for us special people. I feel pretty special, how about you?

I don't feel it...I AM special.
This might be fun to take our daughter to. Do they require lights?

I commute through there. Never been barred from riding through. Of course, I do it at 5:45 am to work and then again at about 3:50pm from work--no major traffic at that point.
This year, I've already ridden through it all lit up--last week they were working on it and had it all lit up one morning. Not a car in sight. :D It was great :D

For a mile ride, I really don't want to do more than mount a flashlight on the bars!

The 99cent type stores generally have some good LED blinkies

Hey, guys, I'm up for doing this. It'll be fun because of who we're with. We can do a group ride after, like ME's Wed/Thurs night ride. She can organize :D
(BTW, I've been through this on a bike--we won't really need the lights :D)

Do you really want to be out there on a bike while the gawkers driving through there spend more time paying attention to the lights than the road?

I'd be down for organizing it. It might be fun to plan it, and maybe whomever will show up, we can ride through the lights, go a few laps (maybe even climb up to the Observatory if it's open) and then go get eggnog and some dinner.
