Hello,
I have a pair of Addidas which use a string/velcro lace system. I like these shoes a lot, I have wide feet so finding cycling shoes to fit that don't totally kill me in the pocket book was tough. I've been having an issue with not being able to loosen the lacing system lately. I've noticed that the sweat from my feet is wicking up to the pull laces (which are attached to the velcro tabs, which hold them tight) and then salting in place in the eyelets through which they are laced. They've been tough to move for a while, and are becoming impossible more recently. Has anyone else had this problem with these or any other shoes?
My only solution so far is to get the strings wet so the salt dissolves. Ten they slide through freely again. But I'm looking for a more permanent solution, i'm not sure how grease or oil would affect the synthetic strings, and they won't be easily replacable if it messes them up.
I've include a picture of the whole shoe becaus I can't remember the model #, and a close up of the string going through the eyelet on the instep of the shoe. You can't see the salt very well, but it's in there. The white crusty stuff is the salt, and the red stuff is clay dust from the field where we play bike polo.
