Winter Cycling - Anyone have the Sidi M's Winter 2 Mountain Shoe

Nashbar has this Sidi shoe, does anyone know how they fit. Are they roomy or should I buy a size up? Will they keep my feet warm? I'm all set for winter riding but I am finding it hard to keep my feet warm so I think I need to break down and buy some shoes.

I have Lake winter shoes in my regular size 44. If I bought another pair, I would go up a half size to accomodate thicker socks.

My wife just bought these very shoes from Nashbar. She bought one size larger than her summer shoes (also SIDIs) and says that with a thick wool sock the Winter M's fit just fine.

I have the Sidi winter storm 3's - I bought a half size up from my Sidi Dominators, I can wear thick socks but there isn't much room beyond that. So I'd recommend a full size up, it would have been better, I got them really cheap and that's the size they had. So I went for it.

They are definitely warmer then the regular Sidi lorica shoes, but they aren't amazingly warm. They are a bit of a disappointment actually, but maybe it's the sizing and a little more airspace would be better. As far as cycling shoes they perform really well as you'd expect in a Sidi shoe. But the soles are pretty slippery on ice, and I'm one of those feet are always cold people, so I still put amfib booties over them if it gets below 15F.

I just retured a pair of these to Nashbar. I ride all winter, regardless of temp. My feet were noticeably cold at 40 degrees F, so I knew they would not do much good in really cold weather. I'm sticking with my neoprene booties.

Wow. I can't wear my lakes until it's 35 or below. Sounds like you didn't give the shoes a chance.

My wife's comment was "these are definitely warmer than regular shoes with booties...but not so warm that I won't need to use something additional when the really cold weather hits." We were riding in 39°F weather yesterday and after two hours her feet were cold enough that she knew another 10 degrees and she'd be hurting. Now she's trying to figure out whether her neoprene booties will fit over these SIDI Winter M's.

fwiw, I have winter shoes from Answer and my experience was exactly the same: they're much warmer than regular shoes with booties, but still not so warm that I think they'll work all winter without any additional help.

If one wishes to be fancy about it, one could purchase the Sidi Toasters (http://www.sidiusa.com/toaster.html) heated insoles to put inside the winter shoes.

My commute is only 40 minutes each way so I hope the Nashbar Sidi M's are fine. I probably won't be out more than an hour at any given time because I am not a winter person, in fact I hate winter. I am forcing myself to ride in the cold this year but I definately have to get some different shoes quick!! I found some other Sidi's on sale for $189 (Sidi Winter Storm) just not sure they'd be worth $40 more than the ones from Nashbar.
