Mountain Biking - i need help!!

ok i am new to mountain biking, but i am real excited about getting into this sport. i just bought a Giant NRS air that i know nothing about. from what i read the bike is a really great xc bike. am i right? well heres the problem what kinda shoes do i get that clip into those funky pedals? i have switched to my old pedals off of a old trek i had. but if i wanna use these pedals what kinda shoes are the best to get?

I think the NRS is Giant's bread and butter XC suspension frame. As far as the pedals, they are probably SPD compatible, but a pic you can share with us might help. Shoes will depend on what system you have on your pedal, but most of them are either SPD or Time compatible.
There's different foot retaining systems out there, among them:
Shimano SPD
Time ATAC
Crank Bros EggBeater
SpeedPlay Frog (I know this is SPD compatible)
The SPD cleats should be the cheapest and most common out there. I've seen the EggBeater cleats as low as $15/pair but not sure.
These are all mountain bike pedal standards.
And I'd give it a month or two before you switch to the clipless system, because of the steep learning curve ... u wouldn't want to be injured too bad if you can't click out during a crash. ;) Get familiar with your bike first.
