Ok, so i have a new Trinewt, and I really like it vs my HID.

but the mounting strap doesn't work so well on matte finish handlebars. On my CX
bike over the tape, it is fine. On my glossy MTB bars, it is fine. But on a textured
finish bar, it slips down a bit. I am afraid to really yank on the strap in fear of busting it.

Anyone know the real deal, on how much that rubber strap can take ? Should I just
crank it down and not fear it snapping ?

One thing I did do, was mcguyver the TriNewt helmet mount and graft it onto a
NiteRider universal handlebar mount, so i can put the TriNewt on my bikes now
the old fashioned way...I am just wondering if anyone has broken a TriNewt rubber
strap yet, or have cranked the bejeesus out of it and it holds up.

I emailed NR a ? about how tough the strap is, I get no reply from them.

I yank mine pretty hard. No signs of failure...yet. I imagine it would be cheap to replace if it's available from the manufacturer.

ya...I am just gonna wrench on it as hard as I need to, to make the light stay put

I went and tried to stretch it out hard, and it is a tough hunk o rubber. I reckon it'll be fine...

I find this comical in a Beavis and Butthead kind of way. :)

ok, I got word from niterider. they said it is pretty tough and it shouldn't break if I crank
on it. so i will really pull it tight and if it ever breaks i will report my results...I will report on
the longevity of the strap. I tried to break it last night....I cannot pull it apart with my hands

whatever it is made of is damn flexible but tough
