How wide a tire can I get on my bike? I'm currently running 700x23s and would like something wider for winter commuting. Its an '05 Raleigh Grand Sport if that helps. Thanks

The rims can pretty much handle any width that fits inside the frame and fork. Cyclocross tires..
Usually if you have 23s you can go from 19s to 25s

The DA13 will easily handle tires past 25, e.g 28 or 32's would be fine.

My experience has been that 28mm is the widest tire that will fit through road brake calipers.

I can see that. Makes sense. Unless you deflate the tire, slip it in, then re-inflate it. It is simple on bikes with cantilevers; a little widget opens and re-closes the calipers quickly. A blessing considering the number of strokes needed on my little pump to re-inflate a 700x38 or 700x43 tire.
