Well I was sitting at home contemplating some source code and I told my wife I needed a break. I told her I wanted to go for a ride. Just about that time, my son brought me the mail and in it was a sale brochure. I looked at my wife and said, "I sure would like to get a new bike, one that really fits me." She said, "you been working hard, go see what they got".:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Momma did not raise a fool and I did not asked her to repeat the statement. I immediately got my shoes on and went to the LBS. The owner was not there but I looked around, talked with the guys a bit and said I would come back on sale day as I was interested in a couple of their 2007 bikes. I got a call from the owner about 10 mins after I left when I was at another LBS. He would go ahead and give me the sale price early.
So I tried several bikes and today, I bought this: http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/07/cusa/road/caad9/model-7RA93D.html only in this frame color, or lack of color. It is actually quite nice looking. http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/07/CUSA/large/7RA93D_clr.jpg
It comes with the compact 50/34 and I am going to buy some Velocity rims with some Ultegra hubs. Will get a fitting next week after their sale is over and should have the bike by Sat after thanksgiving which is cool since I will be out of town until Saturday.
I can't wait to pick it up.

Sweet!
Got it 25% off since it is a 2007 model on top of it. He's going to give me deep discounts on pedals, shoes, bottle cages and some new gloves. I already have everything else so I am good to go.
I am going to get the new Shimano Ultegra pedals and some Sidi shoes. Will sell the Specialized sometime in the near future.

You got that right. ;)
OK, looking at the Velocity Deep V's, should I go with Black or Ti Grey?
Frame color:

I think the Ti Grey would go much better.
Ti Grey - http://www.velocityusa.com/img/colors/tigrey.jpg or Black http://www.velocityusa.com/img/colors/black.jpg

Way to go!!!! Great bike!! I vote grey.
Last time my wife said that I ended up with a new grill. Too bad I wasn't into bikes then. I was told the end of next year I could get a new one.
Yea, she is a keeper. Would cost me to much to get rid of her :p:D

Yes i do! it's my first and its a fine bike. I'm just getting the "I wants" hahah
Plus my bike is actually pretty heavy..i compared it to my riding buddies trek and
wow.. (and the excuses start! lol)
I hear ya. Took me a while to get "she who must be obeyed" to agree to this. :D
Well I done programming for the night. Have a good one, the bed is calling.
Wow! Didn't you have three in your livery already?
I'd go with the black wheels, they would look sweet on that gray frame.
Congrats on the new ride. I hope to be posting mine in about 2-3 weeks
I did, but I gave the mtb to my son and I plan on selling the Specialized once I have this bike. Then I will be back to 2.

If you need a 60cm, I have this box in my garage...
Damn, good wife :D Enjoy!
Going in for my fitting on Monday and will get the bike on Monday. I can not wait. I picked up a new Blackburn System X4 light tonight as well, 30% off. This is the new version of the X3 and total weight (light and battery) is less than the X3's battery by itself. The battery is about the size of an average size cell phone now. While I did not need it, I bought it just because the size of the battery was so much smaller. Life is good. Man do I love my wife.
I also found a local shop that will build me the Deep V's. That is going to reduce the price a lot. Will be looking around for hubs and rims tonight. Front build is $30 and rear is $35-40, based on the spoke count. I love it when a plan comes together.

Sweet, but probably a little on the short side.
It's really a nice bike, but if your longer in the torso, you will feel cramped. I even put a 110mm stem on the bike.

Hmmm...not sure I'm ready for a build up.
Here is a good pic from the LBS of the new bike. I will be picking it up on Tuesday.

Took my first ride of any distance on the the new bike tonight. In a word: AWESOME. I did change the saddle out as the San Marco saddle was just painful to me. I went with a Specialized Avatar Gel. Still need to play with the position a little, but it was uber comfy compared to the San Marco. This bike just loved to run as I was able to get up to 20 mph with ease and maintain it for a while. I even did a little bridge climbing and the compact crank was fantastic. Highly recommend one if your thinking about it. While I only did 15 miles tonight it was great to finally get out there on the new bike.
Anyone looking at an Aluminum bike, I highly recommend this frame. Smoothest riding aluminum bike I have ever ridden.

Hey Jax, did you order the rims yet? I'll throw in my 2 cents. I wouldn't go with the ti grey Velocity Deep V rims cause they look much different from the samples you posted. The grey has more of a blue tint. I built them up for my blue bike cause I liked the blue tint, sort of mached the bike. I also have them on my tandem. They look light blue out in the sun, not grey.
I think the black would match better. But that's just my cheap opinion!:D
A lil photshop so you can see them side by side. The dark bluish rim is the DeepV (lower)

Hey thanks Beanz that is good to know. I was waiting on my local guy to get back to me. He got hurt last week an wont be back in until Monday. Your right, the one in your pic does have a blue hue to it. Well, black it is then.

No wonder why I haven't heard from you in a while, you've been holding out on me : )
Congratulations Brian, keep us posted on your new ride. Agree with you on the choice of colors for your wheels.

Congrats on the new bike.

Congrats on the bike. Now you just got to wait and see what your wife wants in exchange for her generosity. ;)
I already know. It is another 66 hr scrap book extravaganza. Her and my sister will be in Daytona to scrapbook for 66 straight hours. It her way of feeding her habit. I've said it once and I'll say it again, if your wife, girlfriend or significant other is not into scrapbooking, consider yourself lucky. It a deeper, blacker hole of money spending that computers and bikes will ever be.
Wow... that might even fit me
:D
Congrats on the new bike.

Well I still have it. ;)

Well I still have it. ;)
Just looked at the listing. Sounds like a good deal to me. However, as I surveyed the lack of hardwood floors in our downstairs area this morning while walking out the door my wife's voice haunted me..."You can have a new bike as soon as I get my wood floors"...
Doh!
My dream would be to come down to your house and pick it up and then ride it home to Franklin, TN :D.
Don't see that happening either.
Some day...
