The woman who tragically killed Lee Ann Barry and Tom Hoskins is now in the Lancaster County Jail and has been charged with murder. As I find out more sources for the news I will be posting the info here (http://blog.hammerton.net/2007/11/16/lee_ann_barry/).

I typically don't think of "reckless" or "negligent" homicide (whichever one it is) as "murder"--not the same intent.

Anyway, I hope the driver receives an appropriate punishment.

The first story I read said murder, other subsequent stories said negligent homicide then reckless homicide. I am not sure that murder is just a catchall word for any of those. Apparently once charges were filed, she turned herself in and was released on $10,000 bond. No details were revealed about the nature of the accident pending trial.

she's certainly proved herself to be unfit for a driver's license at any rate...

Turn the comprehension knob up and read it. She is charged with reckless homicide.

"Murder" typically denotes an intentional killing--e.g., the driver deliberately hit cyclists.

A "reckless"-type charge suggests the authorities believe the driver killed the cyclists due to careless or unsafe driving. They're not the same thing.

Regardless of the legal fallout, that story is a real tragedy.

The story at the Charlotte Observer said that two other car-bike incidents had occurred near the same location in the previous months. It said it was a slight uphill with a curve. Sounds ripe for an inattentive driver who can't react fast enough to slow moving traffic.

Reckless drivers are abundant here in Petaluma, CA. Chilleno rd has many 25, 35 and maybe a few 40 mph zones and its just incredible how many times on blind hills they just pass at speeds way above the limit and to make it worst some blend it with a sweet blast of the horn.

Others worst than SUVs are motorcyclists because they cut the corner which is where a cyclist usually is (well me) at very high speeds.

Could you wait until there a trial and a jury decided guilt or innocense before you say that she should not have a license This whole thing is sad enough
