Hi all.

I have been off the bike for about a week due to shifting house, and the 4 weeks prior I was only managing to get about 100kms a week in. Friday I rode to school and back, about 10km.

Saturday I rode into the hills, about 9km of rolling/steady climbing up onto the ridge (about 400m up from sea level) and back via the g/f's place - 30km total.

Today I rode into the city for TTT, 16km trip in, 16km TT, plus about 4km warm up, 18km trip back to g/f's place, then the 4km or so home. - total about 58km.

I need to get some training in for some racing In november, and I am looking for input from you guys.

Coromandel K2 challenge (http://www.sportzhub.com/arc/K2/) extremely tough 200km hill race. Check out the site and course profile etc. this is the on the 1st Nov. I am thinking it will be wise to go for a relay waith a mate for 100km each?

Cycle for life 100km (http://www.cycleforlife.co.nz/28/default.aspx) web site seems to be down but yeah. The course is quite flat with some rolling hills, biggest climb is 125m. This is one the 9th Nov. I would like to go at least sub 2hr 45mins (my time from a slightly hillier more challenging 100k course), or even crack the 2hr 30mins.

Lake Taupo cycle challenge (http://www.cyclechallenge.org.nz/) My main goal is to complete this greuling 160km course around lake taupo in the centre of our North Island in under 5 hours. It is a BIG ask of my body, and especially my bike. I cant find a course profile but

"The Course starts and finishes adjacent to Taupo's Great Lake Centre and heads in an anti-clockwise direction around Lake Taupo, which is 357m above sea level. The highest point on the course is
650m. Riders in the solo event complete one lap of the course, 160km"

Please reply, especially with any info regarding doing so much racing in one month and doing centuries.

Hey Brendon,

I also am planning to do the lake taupo solo challenge this year. I did it in 5hr 26min last year and am also planning to ride under 5hrs this year. Have you done the lake taupo challenge before?

I think under 5hrs should be acheivable for me because I have been racing this year and have been riding almost every day, do you know what group you will be riding in?

I plan to ride in the 3rd group which is 4.50hr - 5.10hr.

I was also thinking about doing the K2 challenge but I dont think I could do that and then do round the lake. I know a friend who did K2 and he said it is easily the hilliest race in New Zealand, and lake taupo is a pretty hilly race as well.

I might drop K2 this year at least.

I am starting in that 3rd group, and this is my first time taking up the challenge.

Good to see more Kiwis on board at Bike Forums!
