help!

so...i've been trying to find a cx bike for myself. at first, i wanted maximum versatility. i wanted front and rear eyelets/braze-ons...i wanted the bike to be able to be a chamaeleon...tourer, utility, cyclocross, road bike, light off road duty, eveything. and i thought maybe the motobecane fantom cross or motobecane fantom cross pro might be best.

but then...i got it in my head that i wanted an all out performance cx bike. ridley...colnago...bianchi...whatever. in fact, i went down to one of my LBS's and considered getting a custom Gunnar Cross Hair or a Blue CXC.

but now i'm back wanting a versatile bike like the motobecane. so...why don't i get the motobecane? because i'm a snob! i like the idea of getting a bike with a little snob factor...but STILL have front and rear eyelets/braze-ons for versatility. however...it doesn't seem like any of the snob appeal brands make versatile bikes...they only make performance bikes.

am i wrong? can someone recommend me a versatile bike that's also not something you see everyday?

Specialized Expert Double. Sub 20 pound CX race bike. Has rack & fender mounts, both front and rear. Sweet bike. Wish I had one. Never seen one on the road before. Pricey though. $2700 MSRP.

Buy the Motobecane. With the money you save get a custom paint job and decal however you want! Truly a "one of a kind custom"!:p

i thought about that. they're on closeout to for around 20%-30% off. and it might be my top choice if i can't find anything more appealing to my messed up senses. why the hesitation? because specialized is the new york yankees or boston red sox of bikes...them and trek sell more bikes than God. so...not a whole lot of snob factor. plus...my road bike is a specialized. my dumbass wants a diverse stable.

i don't know what's wrong with me...

the guy at my LBS said Gunnar would probably be willing to add eyelets for an additional cost. so that might be an option...but Gunnar is steel...i'd rather have aluminum or carbon.

redline, kona, cannondale, voodoo, yeti, surly, etc., there are loads of bikes out there with those options (eyelets and sporty).

There are many, many other choices than bikes direct.
