How much play should the rear brakes have? I can sort of move the pads right and left and I know this is not normal in my Shimano equipped bikes.

I took a 15mm spanner and a 5mm hex and did notice the hex bolt was loose, that goes through the brake arch on the seatstays but it hasn't completely tightened the brake and the hex bolt is pretty tight. Is there anything on the brake side that I should try to tighten. My Record front brake is locked and stiff as it should be so I thought it odd that the back one floats so much.

BTW, stupid question, is there a cable tension release on Campy??? My Ultegra brakes on a different bike have a little dial that you can rotate to loosen the cable tension so you can get the tire out (when not flat) but I don't see anything like that on my Campy stuff. Just what looks like your usual pad clearence dial for when the pads wear...

Try filing down that hex bolt one mm.

Cable tension release is on the brake lever.

Hi Jay!

I just love guys with Ergopower!

To expand on what my boyfriend Fixer said, the brake cable tension release is a button near the top of the brake lever.

On older models it is spring loaded. You push the button in to open the brakes up. Squeeze the lever to close them again.

On newer models, the button pushes through the lever. Push it to the outside to open the brakes. Push it back toward the inside to close the brakes. You may need to squeeze the lever a little.

Campy's website (http://www.campagnolo.com/techinfo.php?did=f) has PDF format maunals for their brakes and levers.

Hope that helps! Now smooch me!

Thanks! I knew there had to be one. I did flip through the manual but didn't come across that..

I'm up in northern NJ, about 10 miles NW of Wayne, NJ to which I commute to every workday.

Went out for a 75 mile ride today, what a great day!!! Did skyline drive and into Ringwood S.P. before turning north into NY, depending on the mood, I'll ride into Harriman S.P. or just go north through the ritzy Tuxedo Park and sometimes up to Monroe.
