General Cycling Discussion - Not a good day to ride.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The rain and lightening has been around all day. Hopefully it'll clear up by tomorrow.
(pretent there's a radar picture here with lots of red and green)

Yeah, we're getting it pretty good here on the upper Texas coast thanks to tropical storm Grace. Speaking of which, y'all best be hoping that Hurricane Fabian turns away or you'll be in for a good soaking!

Given the choice, I generally prefer rain for my rides. In fact, I wake up every morning hoping for it. A bit of lightning and wind only add to the experience.

I just got back from a wet ride. It was lovely. It was NOT 105F. It was not hard to keep hydrated. It was not terribly slick since its been raining quite a while here. The cars seemed extra courteous for some reason. Perhaps you have to slow down a little to say "Look at that lunatic!".
Now I am gonna have to learn how to clean a wet bike...

If we don't rain soon our rainforest might be gone. You are welcome to send some this way so I can be allowed back on the trails.
yeah, what's rain? I'm sure the Fixer's reply and mine will increase our chances of a rainy winter in So. Cal this winter....but I hope not! :) Being serious, I know it sucks when you are ready to go riding and can't. Hang in there!

I was lucky ... rained all night but stopped during the AM. I was able to get my ride in and within 15 minutes after getting home that I started raining again. Has rained all day now.
I got caught in the rain the other day, and it sucked. Fortunately, I was nearly home. Since then, though, the weather has been pretty nice and pleasant, sunny and mild, but rather windy at times.

I've been spoiled here: no rain for a month, but the past three days have been sopping. I managed to squeeze rides in on Saturday and Sunday, but today the rain was relentless. I don't mind riding in a light rain or drizzle, and I've been caught in impossible downpours, but I'd rather not head out when it's raining hard all day. By the time the rain let up, it was too close to dusk for me. Beisdes, the road bike's too new to submerge. I'd have to ride the hybrid, and neither bike has fenders.

I've noticed the first yellowed leaves on the ground here. I don't mind though. I love autumn.
