I hope JP is careful since he isn't 100%. (I know, I'm a w-o-m-a-n and I worry about such things with all you fast riding m-e-n).
I'm always careful, just sometimes uncoordinated. :(

Okay, ME, just for you, we will put the special bike flag on JP's bike. That tells everyone to be extra careful around him and be super supportive. He's gonna really appreciate that you reminded us to do that for him!

It was good seeing luwin1026, zzzwillzzz, urbanknight and vancemac. The shoulder did ok, except for that big hole I hit at somepoint that rotated my bars some when I hit them. The legs could have done better, though, I was off the back at the end.

I didn't meet any of you *******s... I don't know what anyone looks like. Next week I'll be searching for everyone.
I took it easy and did a pretty damn hard effort on that one climb (the one that takes you to the short descent over the speedbumps) and after that took it pretty easy again. I should feel pretty good for tomorrow's race.

I tried to say hi, but I couldn't make it through the throng of Bearclaw groupies. :)
In addition to everyone JP mentions above, was good to meet Twowheeltom. And thanks to Will for keeping me informed regarding where the route turns, where the potholes are, etc.
It's a good ride. Too flat, of course, but nice and spirited. :)

Do you ride to it from South Pas? I rode behind you or one of your teammates on the way to the TJ's this morning.

You can always sprint to the top of Santa Anita, or go up GMR instead of heading back Foothill if you need more climbing! ;)

Are you going to tell them why it was snappy today;)
I got swarmed turning onto Longdon while talking with a freind and couldn't get back to the front until Arrow. So who was that guy on Arrow at the front who's wheel I was losing. It was tough. I had just pullled when I got on his wheel and looked down at my PT and I was 50 watts higher than during my pull - and he kept accelerating  So much for a recovery - it was back to hide in the pack until Gladstone for me.
Sure would be nice to be able to recognize the rest of you. I don't know about the flag idea though.

I guess I had a bit to do with the pace, but I wasn't the only one
The guys wheel you were on, his last name is Hosrtmeyer or HorstMeir (something like that) He's a bit of a load when he opens it up....as you found out:D I'm glad it was you and not me. Though i was right behind you. Thanks for keeping the pace at a tempo I could pull thru on.
See you tomorrow Larry

Larry was training with me and Horstmeyer on Sundays earlier this winter. I flatted on the ride for the second week in a row.

How nice of him. At least you had someone pointing out the potholes. Stupid thing is I know where they are and I knew I was in a bad spot and I nailed one good right before Irwindale Speedway and got a flat.

Those holes are the reason I do this ride with my 32 spoke wheels and not the 16/20!
I was riding my crappy training wheels but I nailed the pothole with the rear wheel and my tire went flat real quick. I cut up Irwindale and went backwards on the route so I did the last 45 min. with the group.

I saw you flat redal..to bad it was after the campus sprint. I also saw you working to reel in that solo break at Brea today. It looked like a pretty fast race. I did the 45+ to see how my early season fitness is (sucks). So I just sat in and tried to look like I was enjoying the race. I also did the 50+, which was much more reserved, again pack fodder. I flatted two laps into the race and took a neutral wheel..only problem was it was a 10 speed wheel I am still on 9 speed so it ended up being a bit frustrating, but that's what early season races are for I guess. I took a flyer about 2/3 into the race, blew up and then sat in the rest of the time. Plenty more crits where that came from. Isure hope they keep that new course.
I raced with cleave and larry, and saw Will.

Thanks. My training is a little behind and I haven't done any high-high intensity work that is necessary for racing. I'm starting that this week but I wanted to get out and show my face and get a race in so that race was strictly for training. I just wanted to get out and ride hard and was actually happy with the way I rode.
I was stoked that the Bearclaw guys have Tettleton riding for them. He's a cool cat. I missed that mechanical though.

Any information on the fellow injured in the crash on Royal Oak?
The guy who went down is named Sergio and is a long time local masters racer/rider who is also a fixture on the ride. When I left him, the ambulance was on the way and his major injury was in his hip area. He's gone done a lot over the years so I hope this is an easy one for him to recover from.
As to running the red lights. We didn't run a single one we could have stopped for. Meaning the front guys, if they have the time when the light changes, stop. But if say they hit the light right as it turns yellow..well they keep going. You can't hit your brakes all of a sudden in a situation like that when you have over 200 riders on your wheel going the speeds we go. The resulting pile up would make you many many non-friends. Also since the group is like a single moving vehicle, what the front does..so does the rest of the bunch. Meaning while the front might have hit the light green on yellow..the rest of the pack goes thru on red. Its pretty standard behavior for rides like this. Because if you don't..well then you don't have a group ride pretty soon, or you have a bunch of smaller groups. The Montrose ride can stretch over 1/4 mile in length on a big day, and you have to take that size into consideration when thinking about traffic signals and such.
this ride is for noobs, most of it is flat
what kind of cyclist do you guys think you are, even my 5 year old can ride on flat ground
