General Cycling Discussion - Under Armor Clothing ?

I just bought some long sleeve shirts today for riding. Does anyone else wear their stuff ? Any good ?

I have a couple of them, the cheap ones from wallmart work just as good.

It works and works very well. No frills and no fuss.

I can HIGHLY recommend Heatgear and their Coldgear is very good too.

After wearing my windstopper, maybe I don't need under armor. / But, the rest of my club rides in their club gear. Looks flimsy to me, when it's below 50. . They must have something on underneath. On a club ride, I'm glad to identify with my club; but at the cost of freezing toes and tidbits. Just can't do it. I have thought of putting my club shorts on over tights, but all say don't - that causes chaffing.

Long sleeve, nice and tight, quite thick material. On recent mornings, I put on arm warmers on top of them. Works great.

The coldgear is no good at all. It looks great, feels great, but does a lousy job of moving moisture off your skin onto the next layer, which is the main purpose of a base layer.

The heat gear is pretty good. It works well at moving moisture off your skin to the next layer, and its great at spreading the moisture over a large surface so it evaporates faster. Its drawback is the price. For half the price you can get base layers made from maiden mills powerdry which works even better. Its just hard to find pieces with as much 'fashion' to it. Under Armor is a marketing machine, and very fashionable, but you pay for it.

The heatgear works just as well in the winter as in the summer, since temperature shouldnt be a consideration as to what type of base layer you choose. A base layer isn't meant to add thermal properties, thats what your thermal layer and outter layer do. Just stay away from the cold gear, nasty stuff.

I've been very happy with my Cold Gear. The difference here is that I'll typically wear the typical UnderArmour shirt (thin) underneath it.

PS: WalMart and Target sell clones (Starter) that work just as well.

Good stuff. I'm damn glad my employer picks up the tab for this stuff, though. For the money I favor the Craft bits by a hair.
