hello bikers!
and greetings from Acadiana. that is South Louisiana. But, i am not really cajun. just a transplant. the oilfield brought me here.
i am 45 yrs. young and married. we have a 15 yr. old son. I am the bike rider in the house. I have always liked to be on two wheels. we rode simple bikes of all kinds as kids and rode everywhere with no thought to distance or being tired. we rode in the woods and trails and were "mountain biking" before there was the word. This of course led to dirt bikes and motocross.
College, life, work went on. No more bikes for a while. then i started riding street bikes. for mainly travel and touring purposes.
A few years ago we got mountain bikes and rode some as a family unit. My enthusiasm did not carry over as well to the rest.
but, it was natural to me, since i grew up on two wheels.
Now,
i am starting road riding after much desire to do so. Have only really been at it for a few weeks. I bought a used Schwinn Le tour from a guy at work. I knew he wasn't using it anymore. He had it 4 years. i gotta get rid of the toe clips. I am planning on Look style clipless. the lbs should help with that.
I love to ride and look forward to being a better riding machine and the health that i hope comes with it. I feel a century in my future.
just want to say hi. I look forward to the education people here can give me.

Hi,and welcome
the older LeTours had steel wheels; if memory serves. Harris Cyclery has a deal going on 27" aluminum wheels. If you have the older wheels; that might be an upgrade to consider.

Actually, I just picked up an old 7 speed bike like yours....I wonder if my wheels are steel.
