For those of you interested here's a few stats/results of the 25th El Tour de Tucson.
If you want to check your personal results: perimeterbicycling.com

Total riders (all distances): 9,156.

109 MILES: Winner: Carlos Hernandez of Hermosillo, Mexico in 4:10:50 (a new record). He is a member of the Mexican national team and had 2 of his team support him all the way to the finish. It came down to a sprint and Mike Grabinger (last year's winner) of Flagstaff, AZ came in 1 second after Carlos.
First female was Laura Van Gilder, age 42, from Kutztown, PA in 4:16:11 (she placed 56th overall).
Last 109 miler across the finish line was Richard Shaw from Spring, TX in 11:33:11.

80 MILES:
Brent Barber, of Tucson, AZ in 3:17;37.
Last 80 miler: Harold Nilsson of Albuquerque, NM 8:43:59.

67 MILES: Geoff Ernst of Scottsdale, AZ 2:33:54.
Last 67 miler: Melinda Evans of Tucson, AZ 8:06:23

33 MILES:
David Murray, Phoenix, AZ 1:31:18.
Last 33 miler: Gail Markwell, Oro Valley, AZ 2:43:44

There was also a kids' 4-mile event and a tricycle 'race' of 1/4 mile (got to train 'em young!).

Also, about 150 riders did Bike patrol to assist anyone with problems on the road.

From the first El Tour with less than 200 riders this 25th annual event, this has become a super bike ride with folks from all over the world participating.

We doff our cycling helmets to all riders and volunteers who helped make the 25th El Tour de Tucson such a nice ride!
Come back next year!

What is the video of there? I would imagine its the overall winner of the tour, but I only see one rider. Where's the guy that was a second behind?

I have a feeling that might be of 3rd place finisher Dave Solomon that was 8 seconds behind the first 2 but over a minute ahead of the 4th place finisher. It just seems odd they'd miss the first two riders coming in.

That is the 3rd place finisher. I dunno how they missed the first two.

If you hadn't been spending so much time trying to help an inexperienced rider make it to the finish line, and more time paying attention to being last in line, you might have managed to take that last position.:D

Last 109-miler acrosss the finish-line.... 11:33:11
My next visit to the USA wil be to this tour. Now I'm sure I can do it and will be appreciated.
Last spring I rode from Globe to Tucson and it was 109 miles. It took me 11:30 h.

Is there a limit in time, e.g. the traditonal Dutch speedskating Elfstedentocht (133 miles) stops at sunset (about 5 p.m. They 'take off'at 06.00 a.m.

Nice event in Tucson, congratulations!!!

they take you off the route when it gets dark unless you have lights. three years ago a friend of mine talked them into waiting for him while he went into the walgreens to get a jerryrigged light.
