They keep deleting and reposting it: http://newjersey.craigslist.org/bik/558192319.html
If you can't find it just go here (http://newjersey.craigslist.org/bik/) and look for this:
Bicycle Store Closing - (Newfoundland(West Milford), NJ)
check out the south of nj. there are lots of flatter areas to ride, traffic is lowerer in volume, and the grass is greener!

Yeah, but I don't live there and I'm not driving my bike somewhere to take a ride... that's just silly.

Depends on where you're going to be riding. Don't forget that NJ Transit lets you take bikes on any time that's not rush hour. Since I don't drive, that's how I get to rides in Philly, Princeton, etc.

From Teaneck. Ride around this area. Commute to Jersey city once in good weathers :)

the s nj bus system here (nj transit) allows bikes either in front racks or under the bus in carrage storage bins at any time of day. when touring through boston we had to wait until 7pm before boarding, so i can relate to your concern. if there is a will then the way is not far behind.
i have ridden in many parts of nj, from high point, delaware crossing, princeton, camden, trenton, woodbury, carneys point, pine barrens, capemay, etc. i live in cumberland county and invite nj bicyclists to ride in this neck of the woods!
check out the South Jersey Wheelmen (sjwheelmen.org). there are some good centuries listed there too.
our flagship "the jersey devel century" has usually about 200 riders, a nice way to find nj bicyclists (but some come from ny, md, de, or pa)!

If you don't want to travel that far south I lead rides out of Cranbury on Saturday's south. I ride as far south as Chatsworth/Nixon though I may have a Tuckerton ride but that's pushing it. I love riding down into the Pine Barrens.
pine barrons are great PRESERVED areas (seem to keep traffic down/less urban sprawl). the trees can break the wind as well! pretty serious trails for mtb, i have yet to do that up there!!
thanks for including middle, semi-south jersey in this "looking for new jerseyans" thread.

Looks like we lost a couple posts in here when the database went down briefly? I had posted wondering if any other NJ'ers were doing the 2008 Philly LIVESTRONG Challenge. Anybody?

Just wondering, you didn't donate to me, did you? Because I didn't get any notifications...
It's alright if you didn't - I have the whole summer to raise the money.

One of my favorite stories comes from riding in the Barrens. We were doing the CJBC's Longest Day ride (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Longest-Day-2005). When we just got outside of Chatsworth a big old Harley rider (fit the classic description to a T) rumbled up next to our pace line. My friend Gina was at the front while it was my friend Mark, myself and one other gentleman (a triathlon). The Harley rider yells over the the tri and says 'Nice A**! and lumbers off. My friend Mark and myself are in tears laughing while the tri has this rather odd look on his face. When up from the front Gina yells back 'what about mine?!'. Mark, Gina and I still have a good laugh about that one! I think we averaged 17.8 mph over the 208 - 212 mile route. It was a great day! :)
BTW, it's not unusual to see large groups of motor cycle riders in the same area with bike riders. The area is just that nice. Like I said I love it down there, I'm currently working on a ride out to Tuckerton from Cranbury, NJ.I started another thread for that.

Have you tried that commute yet? I live in Jersey City and would like to get some rides out to Bergen, Essex, etc. I'm curious to hear what route(s) you've tried.
