General Cycling Discussion - Injured

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well, I got myself hurt pretty badly. Friday night I crashed at the velodrome during the national championships. It was the scratch race, and a woman touched wheels and went down. She slid right in front of me, and I had nowhere to go.
I went over my handlebars and landed on my face. I got an ambulance ride to the hospital where 8 hours in the ER found me w/ a fractured collar bone, 3 loose teeth, 19 stiches in my face and mouth, and a big black and blue calf + road rash.
Hey, at least it's the end of the season! I am beginning to improve now, although I'm going to miss some school (begins tomorrow). Well, I just wanted to let you guys know what's going on (it takes a long time to type with 1 hand).
Talk to you soon,

Sorry to hear of your accident, Velo! Get well soon, and back on the bike!
Dang... it's good to see you in good spirits despite the fall! I hope you heal up quickly and if you need anything, let me know.
Did you have a hand injury too?
Glad to hear you're gonna be ok. Take care.

Ow! Hope you feel better soon. Looks like you ought to recover, and what a story you'll have to tell when you do get back to school. How's the woman who went down in front of you?

Sorry to hear about the crash! Hope you feel better soon.

Ouch - so sorry to hear of your incident. However, I'm happy to hear that you will heal, and your attitude is good!!
Ouch! I went endow and broke my collarbone in July, same day Tyler Hamilton did. Most painful part was the 5 weeks I was off my bike. (Although the first few days after the accident were very painful too)
Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear you will be back again and ready to race!

Hope you mend quickly!
To those who asked:
I didn't hurt my hand; my arm is in a sling, that's why I have 1 hand to type.
The woman who crashed in front of me is okay. She got back in the race when it resumed.

Hope you heal fast.
Velo,
Missed this before.
I hope you are ok, and that you get well soon.
Give yourself time we don't want to see that promising
career jeapordized by coming back too soon.
Marty
Sorry to hear the bad news but I'm glad you're ok, sort of.
Keep us posted about your progress.
Too bad about your crash. You do sound indomitable though and that is good - takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!
