Mountain Biking - saddle height?

how high should I mount my seat on my bike?? doing different things with the bike, will that change the approprite hieght?

Well, saddle height is pretty much a personal thing, as is most things with cycling. Generally speaking you should have your seat set so that there is just a slight bend in your knee at the bottom of your pedal stroke. But that is generally speaking. Some people like more than a little bend, some people like almost no bend, some people like it in the middle. So its just a matter of messing around with your seat height and finding just the right spot for you. As far as doing different things with the bike, yes, that could effect your seat height. If you are doing jumps and drops and lots of bumps and stuff, you probably want to put your seat lower.If you are doing singletrack/cross country then you might want your seat a little higher for effeciency. But as I said before, it is all personal.
Measure your inseam. Then multiply the measurement by .85. This measurement on me is 29in. Then measure from the center of your crank bolt to the top of your seat. This measurement should be your inseam times .85. I place my seat right at 30 inches because I like the little extra power I get from streching my leg out a little bit more.
